It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Principal
of Traill International School. My name is Mr.Gordon
Espley-Jones. I am married, and have three children
who are now studying at various universities in the UK.

PROM 2010

An amazing evening of fun, dance and prizes. One of the best
Traill International School Proms. Well done to year 11 for
putting together such a well organized and fun-filled evening
enjoyed by all. It was great to have close friends new and old
coming back together again. The decorations and ambiance set
a great mood with everyone joining in the dancing and games

Chinvorachat (First), Year 9A won first place at the Yamaha
Thailand Music Festival 2010, playing his Electone electronic
organ. |

Traill students
best IGCSE in Thailand Award 2009
(Update 04-02-2010)
The Cambridge University IGCSE examinations are a world recognised
standard, sat by students from the leading international schools
on a global scale. Traill students gained
1st place in Thailand for Physics, 1st place for Biology and
2nd place in Thailand for five subjects combined – beating
very stiff competition from other much larger International
Schools. On Monday 1st February, 2010, Kamolphat Atsawawaranunt
(A) and Suraj Kishnani (Spy) were awarded their certificates
by the British Ambassador, his Excellency Mr. Quinton Quayle,
at an honorary function at the British Embassy.

From 24 August 2009 Traill International
School will have a new Secondary School timetable that will
operate with a one week cycle and enable us to incorporate new
subjects into the curriculum, provide more effective teaching
and learning in the secondary school and ensure we meet requirements
of the Thai Ministry of Education with regards to the number
of teaching hours per week. |

In 2008/09 Traill introduced a new housing system that comprised

Team spirit, competitiveness, and a sense
of belonging is developed with students competing regularly
throughout the year. There are competitions in all areas including
sports and extra-curricular activities. It is easy to know when
there is a house competition going on with the huge amount of
support that gathers around all events. |

Meditation and Moral Study Trip
in March 2009
From the 6th to 8th of March 2009, 32 Traill International School
students along with 5 staff members and 3 parents spent their
weekend at Wat Kean Khet. Over the 3 days and 2 nights they
attended a programme on “Meditation and moral study”.

Competition Winners: Mint, Spy
and Suthep ….
These students are making Traill proud, not just through their
class work but also…
Mint 1st place in horse jumping competition in Chiang Mai
Spy 1st runner up in the Teen Voice Public Speaking contest
Suthep Selected for the semi-finals of the Young Artist competition
Poon (Year 11A), and Mudmee and Poob from 11B…. took part in
an English competition. Poon and Poob got through to the top
10 chosen from 300 competitors from all over Thailand.

Shakespeare takes Centre Stage
For the first time in Traill, students are embarking on short
in-class Shakespeare plays – including pieces from Twelfth Night,
The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As student confidence
grows, Languages Team Leader Peter Goldsmith is hoping to get
the students to put on a performance for the whole school community.

A Win for the Boys’
Football Team
In a recent match between Traill (Year 13s) and Ruamrudee, Traill
took an easy win with 6-0, and dominated the match throughout.
Goal scorers included: Charlie (2 goals); Seung (2); and 1 each
for Jump and Shaun.

A Basketball Victory
By the time the Garden International School basketball team
left Traill on the 13th January, they had defeat written all
across their faces! Traill boys won with 42-33, while the girls
scored 57-22.
