Dear Parents/Guardians
|
New School Day – Secondary School
From 24 August 2009 Traill International School will have a new
Secondary School timetable that will operate with a one week cycle
and enable us to incorporate new subjects into the curriculum, provide
more effective teaching and learning in the secondary school and
ensure we meet requirements of the Thai Ministry of Education with
regards to the number of teaching hours per week
We shall have eight 40 minute periods each day taught mainly in
double periods of 80 minutes. School will begin at 7.25 am and end
at 2.15 pm. In addition a period 9 will extend our provision for
an extra hour on certain days of the week. For instance, Year 7
will have period 9 on Mondays and Tuesdays for PE and Thai respectively
finishing their school day at 3.15 pm. On other days, Year 7’s school
day will end at 2.15 pm. Other year groups will have different period
9 commitments.
A full programme of extra-curricular activities will run throughout
the week from 2.15pm – 3.15 pm so parents with more than one child
at Traill need not experience the inconvenience of two separate
pick-up times. We expect all our students to commit to at least
one extra-curricular activity each week.
Additional adjustments to our schedule include a shortened lunch
break to 45 minutes and separate morning and lunch breaks for primary
and secondary school children.
We hope these changes will provide an increasingly challenging
and stimulating school environment and help our students achieve
their full potential in all areas of the curriculum.
Yours sincerely
David Cox
