It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the
new Principal of Traill International School. My name is Mr.Gordon
Espley-Jones. I am married, and have three children who are
now studying at various universities in the UK.
I have been teaching for 30 years, initially in London and Bristol in the UK, and for the last 20 years in various international schools around the world. During this time, I have been Principal of a school in China and have held senior positions in schools in South Africa, Malawi and Qatar. All of these schools have taught the British National Curriculum. I aim to bring this wealth of experience to help further the aims of TIS.
I have seen the tremendous benefits which my own children have gained
from living in different communities with different cultures and from
attending international schools. It has given them the opportunity
to learn more languages and to understand and respect other peoples’
viewpoints more clearly. I believe that this has given them a great
advantage over their friends in the UK, as the ability to relate to
other cultures in this ever-shrinking business world we live in, is
a great asset to have. It is for these reasons that fully I endorse
the emphasis which TIS puts on internationalism, within a rigorous
academic framework, and I will endeavour to expand the opportunities,
both academic and extra-curricular, for all students at TIS.
