Traill International School welcomes children and students
from the ages of three to eighteen. Our school caters for students
from a wide range of backgrounds and is proud to be considered as
truly international with students of over 30 different nationalities
currently on role.
Our curriculum follows the British National Curriculum, modified to take into account the nature of the students we have and the environment in which we work. At the age of sixteen, students will sit the IGCSE examinations in eight subjects and will then complete a further two years for their A-Level examinations. These are all external examinations, set and marked by the University of Cambridge, and are recognised by universities throughout the world as being of the highest standard. We believe that, with these qualifications, students will have the greatest chance of success after they leave the school, whether it be at university or in the workplace. Students at TIS have consistently enjoyed excellent results in these examinations in the past - well above the average for both UK and international schools - and this year promises to be the same.
Our aim is to produce confident and accomplished young adults who have the necessary qualifications, experience and social skills to rise to the top of their respective field. So, in addition to the rigorous and demanding academic programme, there is a strong emphasis on sports, expressive arts and other extra-curricular activities. Despite the relatively small number of students at the school, we have enjoyed notable successes in numerous inter-school competitions, particularly in basketball and tennis. We aim to challenge all students at the school in as many areas as possible and we have an active gifted and talented programme for the most able. This is a very important part of our curriculum and we will develop it further this academic year. You can find out more about our gifted and talented programme (the relevant page of this website.)
TIS is a growing school but the class sizes remain small and there is a strong, supportive and caring ethos at the school. It is our priority is to make all students feel safe and secure during their time at school, because we recognise that, if a student is not totally comfortable all times during the school day, optimum learning cannot take place. We have a dedicated team of teaching and support staff, who have high expectations of all the students, and who lead through their own example. Traill is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, where students gain confidence to excel in their areas of choice.
Choosing the best school for your child is an important, yet often very difficult thing, to do. Please feel free to contact the school to arrange for a tour of the school and a discussion with one of our senior managers to see if TIS can offer you what you are seeking for your child. I hope and believe we can.
