Traill International school prides itself on its
homely, caring atmosphere with students and teachers working together
as a family to make life better inside the school and in the wider
community.
Although the Student Council was formed only 18 months ago, it already
plays a significant role in organising events to benefit others
and widen the experiences of students within the school. Areas in
which they are involved include; organising and taking part in assemblies;
fund raising to equip an upcountry school as well as providing their
own labour to paint that school; organising the annual Prom and
Graduation ceremonies; designing and hand printing school T-shirts
and selling them to raise money for charity as well as acting as
ushers for Parent Consultation evenings.
In addition, each tutor group through the PSHE Programme helps to
organise and participate in special events such as Environment Week;
the auction of goods created from recycled articles was particularly
successful this year. For International Day each Tutor Group is
responsible for running its own stall based on a chosen country.
The variety of national food available last year would make any
Four Star hotel buffet chef jealous – the chocolate fondue from
Switzerland was very popular. In addition, at the end of each term,
students write and perform their own skits, choreograph original
dance routines etc. to put on their own variety shows – all without
any drama classes or significant help from teachers. Needless to
say, many students go on to enter the Thai entertainment business
as singers, dancers, musicians, actors, presenters etc.
Everyone has a part to play on stage or backstage. As a small, friendly
school, everyone gets the opportunity to participate in some event
during the school year.
